Technical & Deployment Tips

• Utilize band steering, if supported: helps move dual-band capable clients to 5 GHz to help offset 2.4 GHz congestion.
• When using multiple APs, set up as an AP Array in order to duplicate configurations (SSID, VLANs, QoS) to all APs from a master.
• Antenna orientation: By adjusting/tilting, you can get the best coverage, since antennas are removable. (consider walls, obstructions).
• To power the AP in a clean way, you can make use of 802.3af-rated PoE switches or injectors.
• Balance loading – To prevent congestion try restricting the number of clients per AP.
• Secure the network using Enterprise WPA2 + RADIUS if there are a lot of users; disable SSID broadcast / isolate clients if necessary for guest WiFi.
